Can We Live on $500/ Month as an Expat, if so HOW
My husband and I are always interested in learning about various lifestyles, especially international lifestyles. There is something about someone else’s lifestyle and budget that really makes for some great reading, at least for us it does.
One of the things we did in order to retire young. (I was 46 and my husband Shane was 52 at the time of retirement) we opted to live smaller. In making this decision. It also cut our living expenses quite drastically. We also decided to move abroad to reduce our cost of living even more and make the money that we have, last even longer, and go further.
One evening we were watching a YouTube video. In this video, the individual was going over his monthly budget which was around $2100/month USD. This individual also stated that where we reside along the coast of Ecuador (he lives 2 hours north of us). People say they could live on less than $500/month, but he doubts it. My husband and I looked at each other and simply said, let’s show them how and exactly the lifestyle you can live if you only have $500/month available. So without wasting any more time, here is our budget of $500 and exactly how we lived for 1 month along the coast of Ecuador.
